Environmental Health Services, Incorporated
Established in 1985 to Protect People in the Places Where They Live and Work.
Why EHS, Inc. is A Good Choice
The President and Chief Operating Official for EHS, Inc. is David N. Easton. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), a Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP), and he has a sub-specialty certification in Indoor Environmental Quality. He has been the Chairperson of the Biosafety and Environmental Microbiology Committee of the American Industrial Hygiene association. He has travelled nationally and internationally to provide training and consultative services to customers and peers.
David was the Senior Industrial Hygienist for the Agricultural Research Service of the Department of Agriculture before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1984 to accept a position at the University of Virginia Environmental Health and Safety Office. At UVa, he established the Industrial Hygiene Program and played an instrumental role in setting up the Biological Safety Program. At one point, he was the Senior Industrial Hygienist, the Biological Safety Officer, and the Laser Safety Officer. He was a key resource who served on the Institutional Biosafety Committee, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and provided consultation to the Human Investigation Committee. He reviewed new construction and renovation plans, inspected laboratories, office worksites, and support facilities.
In 1985, EHS, Inc. was established to assist property owners and local businesses with environmental issues. As the only CIH in Central Virginia, David was recognized as a reliable source of expertise. As more practitioners of health and safety services entered the community, David continued to offer services that were reasonable and fair, and provided reports that were understandable and useful to his clientele.
(here is an example of the kind of information he provides).
In 2004 David left UVa and accepted a new challenge with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Emergency Planning and Response. While there, he established the VDH Respiratory Protection Program, trained employees and the public about Chemical Hazards and Pandemic Influenza Planning, and travelled the state providing general consultation services. He retired in March of 2008, to devote his full attention to establishing EHS, Inc. as a premier provider of consultation services.
